PERFORMANCE DATES CONFIRMED FOR MIDNIGHT'S THOMPAIN (based on nothing) AT HERBIE'S IN JULY/AUGUST

For Immediate Release/Photos Attached

The Midnight Company will present a 10-year anniversary revival of Will Eno's THOMPAIN (based on nothing) at Herbie's Vintage 72 in the Central West End Fridays and Saturdays, 8pm, July 22, 23, 29 & 30, and August 5 & 6. Tickets will go on sale at BrownPaperTickets.com later this summer.

While the play has brought critics and audiences up short trying to describe it, simply it features a man who tells about bees and their sting, a boy with a dog who died, and the man's experience with a woman. But critics have been almost unanimous in their raves about the script. The New York Times called it "one of those treasured nights in the theatre…a small masterpiece." The Guardian of London said of it "one of the best monologues ever seen." In Los Angeles (where Rainn Wilson of THE OFFICE recently performed it), theatermania.com said "It's doubtful you've ever seen anything resembling it," The Los Angeles Times called it "a brilliantly constructed monologue…a direct descendant of Samuel Beckett," and KCRW radio described it as "not flashy, not full of emoting, but stirring…the important thing is that you go." Midnight Company actor Joe Hanrahan calls it "Existential Stand-Up," while director Larry Dell terms it "Stand-Up Tragedy."

THOMPAIN (based on nothing) was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in 2005, and playwright Will Eno's recent work includes THE REALISTIC JONESES (termed The Best Play on Broadway by USA Today, 2014) and THE OPEN HOUSE (an Off-Broadway Obie winner, include in Top Ten Plays of 2014 by Time and Time Out New York.)

Joe Hanrahan performed the play in 2006, directed by Larry Dell. Both will return for this production. Dell has performed with The Midnight Company several times, as well as with other companies in town. Hanrahan will perform in THE TWO-CHARACTER PLAY in May prior to THOMPAIN, and later in the year, will direct CUDDLES for Slightly Askew Theatre Company.

At Herbie's Vintage 72, located at 405 N. Euclid in the Central West End, fine dining will be available pre and post-show, with fine beverages available during the performance. For their menu and more information, visit herbies.com, or call them at 314.769.9595.

Tickets for THOMPAIN (based on nothing) will be $15. Seating is limited, and tickets will be available later in the summer at brownpapertickets.com.
