THE MIDNIGHT COMPANY ANNOUNCES 2016-2017 SHOWS

For Immediate Release/Photos Attached

The Midnight Company, currently in production with THE TWO-CHARACTER PLAY by Tennessee Williams, and having already announced Will Eno's THOMPAIN (based on nothing) coming in July, announces two additional shows for the months ahead.

In October, Nancy Lewis will star in John Biguenet's BROOMSTICK, a one-person show about a wacky, bizarre old woman living in an odd little shack deep in the Appalachian woods. A bizarre old woman who just happens to be a witch. Broadway World said it was "an hour and half of sheer delight – a funny, poignant and 'spell' binding tale about the magic of the human heart." Curtain Up said "Biguenet, a native of New Orleans and author of several books, award-winning short stories and plays, has written a play that will make you shiver as well as smile." And The Oregonian said BROOMSTICK "is lyrical, lush and full of moments of sly humor and real pathos." Specific dates and theatre space are still being determined, but the play will happen in the spellbinding month of October. Sarah Whitney, Midnight's Associate Director, will direct.

And in January, 2017, Ellie Schwetye will direct Donal O'Kelly's LITTLE THING BIG THING, in which a thief and a nun are thrown into an unlikely partnership for an action-packed, life or death adventure through the Irish countryside. Their goal: to get to Dublin, deliver a film canister to the right people, and do the right thing. With hired killers on their trail. LITTLE THING BIG THING played Off Broadway last Fall, and recently at the Adelaide Fringe Festival in Australia. Reviews there said: "A spectacular experience…darkly funny…one of those glorious works which reminds one why it is one so loves the theatre" The Barefoot Review; "Brilliant…Great stuff!" AussieTheatre.com; and "Theatre this substantial, dynamic and exciting is hard to find" Theatre Guide. Rachel Tibbetts and Joe Hanrahan will appear in LITTLE THING BIG THING, which will play January 27-February 11, 2017, at Avatar Studios, 2675 Scott Avenue, 63103 in Downtown St. Louis.

At this time, Midnight is presenting THE TWO-CHARACTER PLAY, May 11-15 as part of the Tennessee Williams St. Louis Festival. More information and ticket information is available at twstl.org.

And previously announced, Midnight will present Will Eno's THOMPAIN (based on nothing), a one-man Existential Stand Up Tragedy featuring Joe Hanrahan, directed by Larry Dell. The NY Times called it "a small masterpiece." THOMPAIN (based on nothing) will be performed January 22-August 6 at Herbie's Vintage 72, 405 N. Euclid, 63108 in The Central West End.

Tickets will be on sale for all shows later in the year and nearer the productions at brownpapertickets.com. For more information on all shows, visit midnightcompany.com
