MIDNIGHT TO PRESENT COMIC THRILLER "LITTLE THING, BIG THING" IN JANUARY

For Immediate Release/Photos Attached

The Midnight Company will present Donal O'Kelly's "dynamic," "exciting," "spectacular" comic thriller LITTLE THING, BIG THING, January 27 – February 11, 2017, Thursdays – Saturdays, 8pm, at Avatar Studios, 2675 Scott Ave, in Downtown St. Louis, 63103. Rachel Tibbetts and Joe Hanrahan are the cast in the Irish play, directed by Ellie Schwetye. Tickets are $15 and available at BrownPaperTickets.Com.

In LITTLE THING, BIG THING, Sister Martha is in Nigeria, preparing to leave for Ireland to handle the sale of an abandoned convent. Before she leaves, a frightened child hands her a film roll along with his father's dying words – "Bring this to Henry Barr in Dublin. Trust no one."
Meanwhile in Ireland, ex-con Larry is sent by his gang to steal a statue from an abandoned convent.
Arriving at the convent at the same time, Larry and Sister Martha (and her film roll) attract the urgent attention of some powerful and dangerous people – hired thugs from the infamous Scarab Oil Company.
Martha and Larry have to run for their lives – awakening courage and passions they thought were long dead.

LITTLE THING, BIG THING has had successful runs at Edinburgh Fringe, Australia Fringe, Off-Broadway, in Canada and recently in Washington, D.C. Critics have been unanimous in their praise: "A cloak and dagger comedy with…an ending that stops you short, right before it makes you think" (NY Times) "A wonderful mix of suspense, eccentric comedy and tender moments…grabs hold at the start and never lets go" (Talkin Broadway) "Dynamic, linguistically inventive thriller" (Irish Sunday Business Times) "Funny, moving and profound by turns" (The Scotsman) "A spectacular experience…fast and furious…darkly funny…a pertinent comment on corporate power and corruption…one of those glorious works which reminds one why it is one so loves the theatre" (The Barefoot Review-Australia).

Playwright Donal O'Kelly is a prolific writer/director who has written the much-toured solo shows CATALPA and JIMMY JOYCED, the plays CAMBRIA and VIVE LA and many others. Among the films he has appeared in are THE VAN, I WENT DOWN and JIMMY'S HALL.

Rachel Tibbetts (Sister Martha) has worked with Midnight before (directing Joe Hanrahan (Larry) in SEX, DRUGS, ROCK & ROLL) and Hanrahan has acted with Tibbetts' and Ellie Schwetye's Slightly Askew Theatre Ensemble (acting under Schwetye's direction in ONE FLEA SPARE, and he recently directed Rachel and Ellie in SATE's CUDDLES). Besides the central characters they play in LITTLE THING, BIG THING, Tibbetts and Hanrahan will also take on multiple roles in the story-telling.

Jason Scroggins (guitar) and Kevin Buckley (fiddle) will provide live musical accompaniment for LITTLE THING, BIG THING. Kristin Rion will stage manage, Michael Perkins will handle lighting, JC Krajicek costumes, and Pam Reckamp will serve as Dialect Coach.

LITTLE THING, BIG THING will be presented on the soundstage of Avatar Studios, near Downtown St. Louis. Avatar is located in a small business park just south of Market St. and Hiway 40, and just west of Jefferson.
