THE MIDNIGHT COMPANY TO REVIVE TWO ACCLAIMED CONOR McPHERSON PLAYS IN JULY AT HERBIE'S

The Midnight Company will revive two of its most acclaimed productions when they present Conor McPherson's ST NICHOLAS and THE GOOD THIEF, to be performed in repertory, July 10-26, at Herbie's Vintage 72 in the Central West End. Tickets will be available through brownpapertickets.com.

The two one-man shows will be performed by Joe Hanrahan and directed by Sarah Whitney. ST NICHOLAS is the haunting tale of a Dublin theatre critic, sick of theatre and life, who becomes obsessed with a young actress and follows her to London. There he is taken in by a band of vampires, who use him to bring young people to visit the vampires at their nightly parties. The Riverfront Times called it " "unconventional, invigorating, enthralling," also "very funny." THE GOOD THIEF is the tough-as-nails story of a small-time Irish thug, in over his head and betrayed by his boss, chased by the police and the mob, with a woman and her young daughter in tow, running for their lives. KDHX called it "riveting," and The RFT noted its "power and brilliance." Hanrahan and Whitney first presented ST NICHOLAS in 2004, playing at McGurk's Pub, Balaban's (now Herbie's) and Carrie Houk's HH Studio, and THE GOOD THIEF in 2008 at Dressel's Pub.

McPherson, Dublin-born, is also the playwright of THE WEIR (Olivier Award), SHINING CITY (Tony, best play), THE SEAFARER and THE NIGHT ALIVE (NY Drama Critics Circle, best play). He has written and directed several films.

The Midnight Company recently presented SEX, DRUGS, ROCK & ROLL at Herbie's, and will be presenting Daniel MacIvor's HOUSE as part of The St. Louis Fringe Festival, June 18-27. Hanrahan will also be appearing with R-S Theatrics in their presentation of HAMLET for SHAKE38 on April 26, and in Slightly Askew's ONE FLEA SPARE, August 19-29.
